The Dragon Dance

I have been working on alot of work, and products. I was really stressing out before the convention this weekend. My printer broke down at the last minute BUT was brought back to life today just in the nick of time. This piece really was a nice thing to do between slaving over alot of work. I know it seems odd to take a break by doing MORE work. But it was very theraputic for me, and actually motivated me. So whether anyone likes it or not, is not an issue for me. It was a fun piece to work on, and is basically the art version of my happy pill. ^_^

So I had all the different nations symbols on their each individual structure that matched each nations architecture and so on, In the distance I had the da bad guys in silhouette, honest. After doing some other work, I came back to look at it with fresh eyes and realized it was WAY to much, it was cluttered, it really made me feel claustrophobic. I remember what Gan said in my chinese painting and calligraphy class, DONT KILL PAINTING! infact he would threaten you with it, as well as threatening to do push ups. =_= so...in fear of Gan exploding threw my walls to yell at me about how much I not only killed the piece but could classify it as OVER KILL.
wah la. simplicity.


Anyway about the Dragon Dance piece. I originally just had it titled Aang and Zuko. I know not creative. I took some major artistic liberties with the piece. I did NOT copy the way it was in the show exactly. wheres the fun in that? I changed Aang's appearance back to his most iconic outfit. I also made him more epic with this crazy avatar state glow-e-ness, he is also using airbending in the piece which in the episode he was using fire. SO I just wanted to state that I did know exactly what was going on and how it looked in the episode, I just took liberties. Honestly NO one has complained except one friend of mine which immediately made me wonder if others were going to be bothered by it.

My online store is still not up yet because I have been so preoccupied with business trips and work.
However I did manage to make this image a PRINT, that i was selling at conventions. Its large too and it was of nice quality. I had it made into a 18X24 laminated poster. if you want one drop me a note and I'll ship it your way with a surprise care package.
